Calling all dinosaur-obsessed Melbournians, one of the best dinosaur exhibits has hit Brunswick and you can’t afford to miss it. Dinos Alive is a must-see dinosaur world that will have you feeling like Sam Niel spotting a Diplodocus for the first time. A family-friendly exhibit that has so much to offer, Dinos Alive was a huge highlight for us and here’s why!
Dinos Alive Melbourne
The exhibit itself has been built and designed in such an incredibly engaging way, that every step along the journey will have you gasping in excitement. The warehouse facility will have you fooled, thinking you stepped back in time to a land of dinosaurs. From the life-like audio to the feel of the dinos themselves, it really will have you tricked, thinking the dinos are alive again.
There are so many dinosaurs to see, from the fan favourite Velociraptors, to the friendly stegosaurus and through to the king of the dinos Tyrannosaurus Rex. The Dinos Alive exhibit brings together a unique collection of lifelike dinosaurs, including what can only be described as Melbourne’s biggest dinosaur, a Spinosaurus that we swear was at least 3-storeys tall.
Walking through the exhibit you are on a journey to pure wonder, ducking under long tails, waltzing through the jungle smoke and listening to the incredible sounds of the creatures from yesteryear. The Dinos Alive Melbourne team have done a tremendous job of making this exhibit educational, fun, and incredibly real all at the same time. You won’t want to miss this event if you’re a little dinosaur enthusiast or spent your childhood researching dinosaurs.
We also loved how informative each dinosaur exhibit is, with information posts in front of each animal and lit up so that you could read about them inside the exhibit. Our little one almost knows more about dinosaurs than we do, so it was great to be able to quiz him and add to his knowledge base with information about their diet, size and behaviour. Dinos Alive in Melbourne is a great educational trip.
Immersive activities and games
Once you’ve navigated your way through this land before time there is so much more fun to be had. Dinosaur-themed rides, a chance to race a dinosaur, colouring in stations and a VR experience are all available for you and your family, with your ticket. Some of the activities at the end do cost a little extra but are well worth it to enjoy the overall experience that Dinos Alive has to offer.
One of the more exciting activities was a large projector that had dinosaurs walking laps in a cartoon jungle, with the
colouring-in drawings that children make wrapping the dinosaurs. Essentially, the children could do drawings that would colour in some or all of the dinosaurs and watch in anticipation as they come on screen.
Where to find Dinos Alive Melbourne
One of the best things about the Dinos Alive exhibit is its location, right in the heart of Brunswick. Making a day of visiting the exhibit is so much easier thanks to its proximity to Sydney Road and all its shops, restaurants, bars and parks. The Dinos Alive Melbourne exhibit is located on Dawson Street, directly across the road from Brunswick Secondary College.
The exhibit itself is so easy to spot, with hoarding covering the entire facility. The entr
ance can be found on the left-hand side of the exhibit as you face it from Dawson Street. Parking can be at a premium so don’t be afraid to park a little further back, across the road from Brunswick Baths you’ll find a pay-as-you-park car park which is only a short 300m walk from Dinos Alive Melbourne.
