Australian intimates are at the centre of innovation. With the rise of bamboo fabric, organic cotton and even period underwear, Australian customers are spoilt for choice. Bimby and Roy was a brand we first discovered on Instagram, with their underwear and bras looking both comfortable and stylish with prints we have never seen. If you want to add some retro flavour to your underwear drawer, here are our honest Bimby and Roy reviews.
Bimby and Roy bralettes
Funky prints aside, the last thing anyone wants is underwear that doesn’t fit or feel right. All the Bimby and Roy bralette reviews mentioned how comfortable the fit was, while still offering enough support to get around confidently. As someone with a larger bust, it can be hard to find something comfortable and casual while still being supportive. The straps have a decent but slight stretch to them offering an easier range of movement if needed.
I’m very selective over the bras I buy, and even more selective still over the bralettes I wear. It’s that delicate balance between feeling supported while not having an underwire digging you in all directions, and counting down the hours until you rip it off. What we love about the Bimby and Roy bralette is the seam in the middle of the bust, which you do not always see in barrettes and crop tops, and it makes it more inclusive for bigger-bust women. The Bimby and Roy bralette is the same material as the bottoms and also doubles as a swimsuit. If you find it hard to find a swimsuit top or bralette
Bimby and Roy bottoms
The Bimbi and Roy range is unique to most other brands as they offer duality to their products, with the bottoms and tops also swim-friendly. This initially made me feel weary of the feel of the underwear, as I did not want to be wearing what feels like a swimsuit all day. Swimsuit material can feel sweaty after seating it all day, and especially uncomfortable when sitting down. The material is somewhere in between a swimsuit and underwear, so definitely an added benefit. Bimby and Roy also recommend that you should only swim in dark-coloured pieces, as the prints and light-coloured bottoms and bralettes may become see-through in the water.
The Bimby and Roy underwear comes in two varieties – high-waisted and regular (which is more of a bikini cut). If you are someone who likes to keep a colourful undie draw, then there are eight pages of print selections across these two styles. We were very satisfied with the black pair and the two prints.
The story of Bimby and Roy
Bimby and Roy was a dream long before we fell in love with the brand. The founders are Fijian sisters who always wanted to start a label together, and then years later when they had both started families in Australia – they took the plunge. The name is a beautiful culmination of the birthplaces of their firstborn children, with the logo penned by their father. The sisters also opened a child care centre at the manufacturing facility, appreciating the role that mothers have in our community and supporting staff through subsidised child care rates. We simply love Bimby and Roy’s ties to family, which really makes us believe their ethos about body comfort and loving the skin you are in.
You will find that lots of Bimby and Roy reviews touch on the sustainable features of the brand. Designed in Australia and manufactured in Fiji, Bimby and Roy is the first solar-powered facility in the region. This is quite a significant move for the brand and one we hope to see in our brands going forward. The prints and designs you love are also sublimated on the underwear which is a design printing technique that is the most sustainable route fashion brands can take.
Bimby and Roy sizing
Buying underwear online is always a gamble and can be especially stressful when there are parameters around how you can return them based on hygiene rules. When scanning through Bimby and Roy reviews, customers seem to be pleased with the labelled sizing and how it feels when worn. That being said, the Bimby and Roy bralettes have no underwire and the Bimby and Roy underwear is available in a high-cut and low-rise. The Bimby and Roy sizing also lends itself to being the best maternity underwear – as the bralettes are underwire-free and easy to pull up or down for feeds. Be sure to check the Bimby and Roy website for more detail on sizing.
