If you are vegan or have significant dietary requirements, chances are you have heard of Health Lab. Health Lab protein balls and bars are a delicious alternative to the lollies and chocolate aisle at your local supermarket. Usually, healthy versions of sweets will give themselves away as soon as you have the first bite, but we can’t believe how good Health Lab tastes. We are also pretty floored at how many flavours there are, as usually vegan and gluten-free sweets come with a limited selection.
If you’re a fellow lover of Health Lab protein balls and bars, here is a scoop of where to get from, and what flavours are available.
Health Lab At Woolworths and Coles
Having a Health Lab Woolworths and Coles range makes things very convenient, especially if you can’t get to your favourite Health Food store too often. We have found Health Lab in Woolworths stores to be more consistent in the offering than Coles.
Like most specialty items, there will be a different inventory at every Coles on Woolworths, so do not expect to see every ball and bar variation. For example, Coles Campbellfield has quite a low range, although Brunswick Coles and Woolworths have a big range, and city express stores have a good range also.
The only drawback of the Health Lab bars and balls is the price. $15 for four bars is quite a stretch, especially when you can get chocolate bars or a Carmen muesli bar for significantly less, and they are usually a lot bigger. Keep an eye out for sales as they can often be up to 40% off.
Health Lab at Cheaper Buy Miles
Cheaper Buy Miles is a great store that Melbournians should be visiting to grab a bargain. Cheaper Buy Miles carries stock that has been rescued from Coles and Woolworths due to be almost out of date. You can find some items that are out of date on the shelves, but most of it is coming up to expiry and absolutely fine to eat. We first tried Health Lab on a Cheaper Buy Miles visit, where they were $3 for a box of four bars. Maybe this is why we are so offended by the Coles and Woolworths Health Lab prices!
You can follow the Cheaper Buy Miles Instagram page as the store owners are very diligent in updating their community on what stock is new. There is a Flemington, Footscray and Brunswick stores. Health Lab is not always there but you can keep your eye out for them!
Health Lab on Catch of the Day
If you happen to have a Catch of the Day account and search for Health Lab protein balls and Health Lab bars, you can check out what range is available. They are not always on sale here so you may just be paying standard Woolworths prices.
We have favourited Health Lab chocolate bars on the app so that we get notified when they are on sale!
Health Lab balls
It would be fair to say that most of us have tried bliss balls and the various protein balls that can be found at health food stores and the health food aisle at your local supermarket. Health Lab is truly a cut above the rest! These protein balls are plant-based, gluten-free, and have far less sugar than other similar variations. If protein balls don’t really do it for you, then they also have custard-filled balls, nut-filled balls, jam-filled balls, whyte chocolate balls and more!
Needless to say, these are better flavours than the token chocolate and vanilla balls you can find and flavour generation seems to be something Health Lab is very good at.
Let’s break down all the kinds of Health Lab balls you can get.

Health Lab bars
We don’t think that the Health Lab bars are an alternative to a traditional protein bar per se, but they are more like a healthy alternative to a chocolate bar. Most of the Health Lab bars are coated with chocolate, which means plant-based chocolate. There are whyte chocolate and mylk chocolate bars with different fillings which come in a pack of four.
The Health Lab bars selections are as follows:
Mylk chocolate bars
- Samantha’s Cherry
- Mr. Big Caramel
- Carrie’s Coconut
- Charlotte’s Fix
- Miranda’s Delight
Whyte chocolate bars
- Mr. Caramel Big
