Podcasts are definitely the medium of choice these days. You can put on your headphones and get advice on finance, hear current events, or get hooked on a true-crime saga. What you might not have explored yet are the best beauty podcasts out there educating the masses on best practise and chatting about all things beauty. The format will vary depending on the subject matter, hosts and producers, so we have included a range of options to suit your definition and interest in ‘beauty’. Let’s get to know the best beauty podcasts.
You Beauty podcast by Mamamia
You Beauty was one of Australia’s most downloaded beauty podcasts for a very long time, which probably speaks to the power of Mamamia! Each episode ranges from twenty to thirty minutes and tackles topics like ‘do at-home LED masks really work’ or ‘everything you wanted to ask about a nose job’. Essentially all your questions about products, steps and trends are asked and answered – with plenty of banter. We particularly like the ‘Spendy, Savey’ segment when hosts, Jo and Leigh, recommend an affordable and expensive product they love at the moment.
In addition to the standard episodes, there is also an ‘In Her Bag’ episode where they speak with a woman and ask them about their routine and beauty recommendations. This can be a great one if you share the same physical characteristics as the woman being interviewed. The You Beauty Facebook group is arguable as good as these beast beauty podcasts when it comes to tips and reccomendations.
Skin School by Adore Beauty (we think this is one of the best beauty podcasts!)
This truly is a one-stop-shop for beginners and beauty intermediates as it covers so much information. You will find there are sole episodes dedicated to various active ingredients, different skin types, skin concerns, and the tools to identify what skin type you fall into. The success of the Skin School podcast comes down to the hosts. Amy Clark, senior beauty editor at Adore Beauty, and Michelle Wong from Lab Muffin Beauty Science bring so much to the discussion and do not leave any stone unturned.
Each episode ends with a ‘pop quiz’ where Amy asks Michelle some commonly asked questions about the topic and some great myth-busting always ensues.
This podcast is a series of 12 episodes, and there is something for all listeners. Our favourite is Episode 7 – ‘Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides, Squalane’. We also learnt a lot from Episode 3 – ‘What The Heck Is A Serum?’
Beauty IQ Uncensored by Adore Beauty
If you want more than just the 12 episodes being offered up by Skin School, then you might like Beauty IQ Uncensored by Adore Beauty. These episodes truly cover a broad spectrum of topics – and they sometimes don’t even get recorded in a studio. We tuned in to an episode that saw hosts, at an Ear Lab clinic as they both had their ears cleaned and explained the process and how the clinicians insert a camera and tools into the ear.
As Adore Beauty is one of the most trusted names in beauty, they are privy to new brands, samples and techniques that haven’t necessarily made it to Australia yet. As one of the best beauty podcasts, they will undoubtedly keep you ahead of all beauty news.
Some episodes that we really got a lot out of was Episode 38: ‘Pregnancy Skin Tips With A Dermatologist’ and Episode 29: ‘ Our Fave Beauty Products Under $30’. While the girls interview experts and specialists, they also provide enough detail and information that even a beauty newbie could understand and even apply the content being discussed.
That Beauty Podcast
The reputation of That Beauty Podcast speaks for itself, and many think it is one of the best beauty podcasts. Many might consider That Beauty Podcast to be something of an independent podcast as they are not tied to a brand or retail body – but that doesn’t mean Carli and Bettina are not experts at what they do. If the voices sound familiar, they also hosted the podcast Get Lippy before launching That Beauty Podcast in 2020. We love their Instagram feed as it is a combination of product reviews, celebrity beauty looks and tutorials that you can try at home. Add these ladies to your weekly listen and your Instagram feed and enjoy a well-rounded discussion of beauty in Australia.
