Collagen powder is certainly having a moment, but how do you know what brand and ingredients to look for? We have been recommended Nutra Organics products by several people so we gave it a go and here is our review. If you haven’t checked out the Nutra Organics website before, they have an extensive range of the best collagen powder in Australia to aid different functions. These include Collagen Beauty (Tropical, Waterberry, Wildflower or Lemon and Lime), Collagen Build and Collagen Body.
We were told to try Nutra Organics Collagen Body, and so the review and recipes will be for this powder.
What is collagen, and do collagen supplements work?
Simply put, collagen is a protein that contributes to skin elasticity and healthy joints. As we age, the collagen breaks down and depletes, and it is harder to produce more. As we age, our skin will become thinner and lose its elasticity, which is why most aging products tout collagen renewal. Many ask what is collagen, not knowing that it is in our bones, blood and muscles and is found in 3/4 of our skin and 1/3 of the body’s protein.
So, how do collagen supplements work? Collagen powder will slow down the aging process and will minimise wrinkles and dryness. Essentially, you are delivering collagen back into your body so that your skin can see higher elasticity, and make skin more hydrated. Hydration and elasticity are what we are searching for in every beauty bottle, so Nutra Organics collagen powder is a must-try for all! Collagen powder is also great for bones.
Studies have indicated that between 2.5-15grams of collagen can be consumed each day to see health benefits. It can be mixed with tea, coffee, smoothies and baked goods.
The Nutra Organics collagen beauty, when consumed with a healthy and varied diet, will assist with:
- Bone density is enhanced
- Supports gut health
- Provides protein to build and maintain tissue
- Reduces the risk of osteoporotic fracture
- Digestive enzymes are regulated
- Boosts muscle and nerve function

Collagen powder recipes
Collagen can be consumed as a pill, capsule, liquid or powder. As Nutra Organics collagen powder is very soluble and odourless, then you can add it to just about anything. We find collagen gummies and collagen smoothies to be the easiest and tastiest ways to consume collagen. Here are two of our favourite collagen powder recipes.
According to Nutra Oragnics, they recommend mixing (2 tablespoons) daily into any liquid of choice, from smoothies to soups. Their collagen powder is odourless and flavourless and dissolves in hot and cold liquid.
Collagen powder smoothie recipe
We love the many ways we can use collagen powder, but the Skin Loving Blueberry Collagen Smoothie by The Natural Nutritionist is one of our favourite go-to’s. This recipe includes additional ingredients that have similar properties to collagen, and it’s a really nice way to start the morning as the smoothie is not very sweet. The recipe was developed by Elyse from The Natural Nutritionist, and it’s a staple in my household now.
If you have time, soak your chia seeds in the almond milk for 10 minutes so they can get to that jelly consistency. You don’t have to add ice, but we use it so that it is nice and cold!
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (we use frozen)
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds
- Half a frozen banana
- 2 tablespoons of almond butter
- Half a zucchini, diced
- 30g Nutra Organics collagen powder
- 1 cup almond milk (unsweetened)
- 1 cup ice
Collagen gummies recipes
Collagen gummies are really having a moment, and if you have tried a collagen gummy before – you will know why. Forget your childhood memories of sugar-filled jelly, because collagen gummies are natural and can be in any flavour you like. This recipe not only uses Nutra Organics collagen powder but also the Nutra Organics natural gelatin – which can be used more than you think! If you plan on making collagen recipes like this, you might like to buy the flavours – wildberry, tropical, lemon & lime, etc.
You can also add fruits to the gelatin as they set so that you get some beautiful collagen gummies, adding a boutique touch to any cheese board or snack session.
INGREDIENTS
- 400ml of your favourite juice (we love Watermelon juice)
- 9 strawberries, sliced with leaves removed
- 1/2 cup of Natural Gelatin, bloomed in 1 cup water
- 8 tbsp of your Collagen Beauty flavour of choice (we loved Wildberry)
METHOD
- Bloom the gelatin as per instructions on the tin
- Add collagen powder to the juice
- Heat the juice over low heat ever so slightly
- Add gelatin to the heated liquid
- Mix and pour into a prepared tray
- Top the tray with sliced strawberries
- Refrigerate for 2 hours (minimum) or until gelatin has set
- Gently turn out gummies onto a board. If they don’t easily fall out, you can gently run warm water on the back of the mould to soften the edges.
- Cut into 24 pieces… and enjoy!
Why we love Nutra Organics collagen
Nutra Organics collagen powder comes from Germany and Brazil, and the collagen manufacturer is one of the only companies that are scientifically formulated collagen peptides. This is backed up by peer-reviewed studies, and this bovine collagen is sustainable and ethically manufactured. Nutra Organics works to support the highest animal welfare schemes, and these cattle are grass-fed. You can learn more about the Nutra Organics collagen Beauty and Nutra Organics Collagen Body, but checking out their product page.
So how do collagen supplements work, and why are Nutra Organics best? Well, they said it best themselves.
Together with organic wholefood bioavailable sources of Vitamin C and Zinc, Collagen Beauty™ provides the necessary nutrients needed to promote collagen production in skin, as well as healthy hair and nails.
This is also the best collagen powder in Australia because you can have it when you are pregnant. The taste is also the best we have tried. The last thing you want when using an organic protein powder or green powder is that the taste can be too sweet, or just plain unpleasant. Collagen Body by Nutra Organics is unflavored and odourless and is very quick to dissolve in hot & cold liquid.
